When I first started to take care of the Erasmus programme I had no idea how tiring and complex the process would be.
Since May I have been filling forms in two languages, constantly reading the websites from both universities, bank problems, official documents for Finance department and Social Security...Bureaucratic crap, basically.
I am finally installed and every single bureaucratic issue is solved. I am definitely sleeping better now.
I am mesmerised by this city and all of what it offer me.
I am still getting used to the crowded pavements, the pushes at the underground, the traffic at Oxford Street, nevertheless I feel it is the way of London saying 'I'm alive'.
The weather has been kind and the rain rarely pops, so I have been able to explore more.
I've eaten to pubs, to bars in the Soho, walking for hours in streets I know as if I lived here all my life. The only place I'm still getting lost is Waterloo, which is a little bit strange...
King's College is amazing. The main difference between this country and Portugal is the way they treat students. The facilities are huge and modern and staff is immensely helpful and kind.
Try to picture a University in Portugal with a Church, a Mosque and two clubs...Unbelievable right? I got lost on my first day of lectures trying to find the room. I was 15min late!
Plus, as students we are entitled to all sort of discounts. The feeling I have is that students are much better treated than in Lisbon.
I was supposed to post a long time ago, but I was not feeling in the mood to post. Sometimes I am on the bus and I see something that strikes me and I think 'Oh, I should mention this on the blog', but when I get back home I forget and do something else.
Next post I'll talk more about the Chesney Building and its wonderful and amazing Mezzanine :D
See you soon!
xx
